Two words...

...TENT DAY!!!!!!

Enough said... :)

(In case you were wondering, though, Gavin dubs our creations "tents" because ever since we camped out in Mamaw and Pappy's backyard he's been obsessed with tents. No "forts" for us - at least for now...)

Fun in The Dalles

Jared had two vacation days left that he had to use up before his "anniversary" which is the first or second of October, so after going back and forth about what to do we decided that a visit to The Dalles was in order since it felt like we hadn't been there in FOREVER! Since we went during the week we had time to kill until one in the afternoon before Mom got home so on one of the days we decided to go up to Sorosis Park, which is always fun. I hijacked Mom's camera since I forgot mine and snapped a few pictures.

In case you were wondering, you might get in the tire swing just fine, but getting out is a completely different (and much less graceful) story.

Gavin was so excited to find a steering wheel

He loves to "dive"

Fun with Daddy...

...and with Mommy

And as with any outing, you get the signal when it's time to get going.

Glasses

As you can see, our little man has glasses now. We went to the eye doctor a couple of weeks ago so the doctor could check out his eye that turns in. We found out that he has something called accommodative something or other (I can't for the life of me remember what it's called), where his left eye turns in when he is focusing on something which is brought about by the fact that his eye needs a prescription. So far the glasses make it a little better but I guess the muscle needs time to fix itself because, as you can see from this picture, his eye still turns in slightly at times.

I had to just pick some frames out of the catalog without having him try them on (long story, which includes us being at the eye doctor for three hours) so the lenses ended up being a little bigger than we had hoped, but we're getting used to it. I guess it will give him room to grow.

We just think he's cute as can be and thought we'd give you a look at his new specs!

Two Firsts...

Just wanted to share our happy news with everyone! On Sunday Gavin had his very first all-day Pull Up - he even stayed dry through church and naptime! Then that night we had our very first instance of him waking us up so he could use the potty. I was a little nervous that it would keep him awake, but he insisted. In fact, as I stood there debating if he was being serious after he said "pah-yee" (potty), he started to stand up and he told his stuffed dog and "bet" (blanket) that he would "back" (be right back). I didn't have to worry because as soon as he had done his business, he put his head on my shoulder as I walked him back to his crib and went right back to sleep. YAY! We're by no means done with potty training, but we're getting closer! I'm just glad we're pretty much out of the phase where using Pull Ups was a waste of money because he went through them as fast as diapers.

What will our kids say when they're teenagers and realize we posted such details of their life on the internet?? Hopefully they'll realize that we couldn't resist because we were just so darn proud! :)
