Gavin's Talent

I am sharing this video because I find it extremely entertaining and baffling at the same time.
We discovered that Gavin was memorizing long sections of books with this "Olivia" book. We got it from the library and one day we heard him in the car reciting the "Mommy, Daddy, Mommy, Daddy..." page to himself. When I got the video camera out, I knew he could recite from where I started until that point. I had no idea he knew the rest of the book! I also had no idea that this wasn't the first book he had memorized...

After I did this video, we went with Grandma to the library while she picked out some books for the church nursery. I recommended one book that we had checked out at least two months prior so she put it in her stack. A little while later, I found that Gavin had taken that book out of the stack, sat down in one of the kiddie chairs, and was "reading" the entire book out loud to himself. I didn't even know he had paid attention to that book when we had it at our house!

Anyway, I'm not going to recommend Gavin as a poster child for "Your Baby Can Read" (don't get me started on that!)...I just thought you would find this entertaining. Sorry about the jumpy video...I was trying to video tape while keeping Jaynee from grabbing the camera and book while turning the pages for Gavin (well, really the page turning was so listeners could follow along).
